Activate a domain

Even if your store can run on a .skw.ro domain which you have been allocated for free, it is advisable to switch as quickly as possible to your domain, which needs to be hosted by a hosting company.

Buying a domain

Stores and sites, in general, which run on their domain inspire more trust in comparison to those who operate on other domains (for example, "pantofi.ro" instead of "pantofi.wordpress.ro"). We recommend you choose a suggestive domain for your business that is at the same time unique and easy to remember for the clients that want to come back.

Gomag works together with Claus Web hosting company, from which you can buy your domain and a hosting package. Also, on their site, you can check the availability of the domain you wish to purchase.

Buying a hosting package

In case you already have a domain, but it is not hosted anywhere, you will need to buy a hosting package. You can choose any hosting company to do so, but we recommend choosing our partner, Claus Web, which will provide you with quality services at reasonable prices.

Regardless of the hosting company you choose, you will be asked to change the nameserver.

Changing the nameserver

DNS settings can be configured through:

• The Domain Registration Institute http://www.rotld.ro (only for .ro domains)
• The company from where you bought the domain
• The company which offers the hosting services

Note: We do not offer direct support for DNS settings since every company has a different policy regarding this setting.

In case you encounter difficulties with these settings, please contact the company's technical team from which you bought the domain/ hosting or contact directly http://www.rotld.ro.

CNAME redirect execution

When you want your store to go live, you will have to request at your current hosting company to execute a CNAME redirect from your domain (www.domeniu.ro) to the demo created on Gomag platform (demo.skw.ro). Also, your hosting company will have to execute a redirect from domeniu.ro to ​http://www.domeniu.ro.

Adding the domain into the platform

After the execution of all redirects by your hosting company, you can add the domain bought in Gomag platform. You will find the necessary instructions for this action HERE.
